Ucham (உச்சம்) mobile app  ·  Last updated: 1 July 2026

The short version

Ucham is designed to keep your personal information on your own device.

1. Who we are

This app is provided by UCHAM LTD, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17295248), whose registered office is 25 Holdenhurst Avenue, London, N12 0JA, United Kingdom.

For anything to do with this policy or your data, UCHAM LTD is the "data controller". You can contact us at info@ucham.co.uk.

2. What the app handles, and how

Birth & chart details (stored on your device)

To produce a panchangam (almanac) or jathagam (horoscope), the app asks for details such as a name, date of birth, time of birth, and birth place or city. This information is saved locally on your device only so the app can show your charts and readings. It is not transmitted to UCHAM LTD or to any server we control. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information is removed.

Location / city

The app uses the city or location you choose to calculate sunrise, panchangam timings and temple listings. This selection is stored on your device. The app does not track your movements.

Subscriptions & purchases

Ucham offers an optional paid subscription ("Ucham Pro"). Purchases are processed by Apple or Google through their app stores, and subscription status is managed on our behalf by our subscriptions provider, RevenueCat. Through these services we receive limited information needed to unlock Pro — for example an anonymous purchase/subscriber identifier and whether a subscription is active. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Your purchase is governed by the app store's own terms and privacy policy.

Notifications

If you choose to enable reminders (for example festival or fasting-day alerts), the app schedules notifications on your device. Where push notifications are used, they are delivered via Apple's or Google's notification services. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Content the app loads from the internet

To show temple information, festival data and temple photographs, the app fetches content from third-party sources such as GitHub (data files) and Wikimedia/Wikipedia (freely-licensed images). As with any internet request, your device's IP address is visible to those services, but no birth details or personal readings are sent. A "check this year's dates" option may open your browser or a web search for a temple's announcement.

3. What we do not do

4. Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)

Where we do process limited personal data, we rely on:

5. Who we share limited data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:

These providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) apply. We recommend reviewing their own privacy policies for details.

6. How long we keep information

Your birth and chart details remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app — we do not hold them, so there is nothing for us to retain. Limited subscription records held by our payment/subscription providers are kept in line with their policies and applicable law.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights including access, correction, erasure, restriction and objection. Because your birth details live on your own device, you can view, change or permanently delete them yourself within the app or by uninstalling it. For any request relating to data held by our subscription providers, contact us at info@ucham.co.uk and we will help.

8. Children

Ucham is a general-audience almanac and horoscope app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us.

9. Security

Because your personal details are stored on your own device rather than on our servers, they are protected by your device's own security (such as your passcode or biometric lock). We take reasonable measures to keep the app and any limited data we handle secure, though no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above.
